A group of ten sentenced of online harassment directed at Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has found guilty ten people for engaging in the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the partner of French President, Emmanuel Macron.

The accused individuals faced charges of disseminating untruths regarding her gender identity and sexuality, in addition to posting defamatory statements about the husband and wife's significant age difference.

The court delivered suspended prison sentences of as much as eight months to the perpetrators. The complete verdict has yet to be released.

A circulating unfounded claim suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has spread widely since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.

This recent ruling in France coincides with the Macrons pursuing a legal action for defamation in the United States of America against political commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared similar conspiracy theories about the Brigitte Macron's identity.

Their complaint contends that Owens brushed aside substantial counter-evidence that refuted her assertions choosing instead to platforming known conspiracy theorists.

Owens has regularly repeated these assertions on her podcast and social networks, and in March 2024 stated that she would risk all her credibility on her insistence that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.

Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her future husband when she worked as an educator at his high school.

The two married in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was 54.
